Loretta Blair
Loretta Blair, 100, died on June 2, 2014 at the Life Care Center of Littleton, where she had been a resident for four years. She was born February 10, 1914 in Memphis, Texas to Roger and Ella Mabry. Her family moved to Monte Vista about 1920.
On June 3, 1934 Loretta married T. A. Collins. She married Larry Blair on 28 December 1974. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Monte Vista. For many years she was the office manager of the J.C. Penney store. In 2004 Loretta moved to Denver to be closer to her son.
Loretta is survived by her son Donald (Edith); three grandchildren: David; Sara (Tom); John (Marina); and by five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, T. A. Collins in 1972; by her second husband, Larry Blair in 2004 and by two siblings: Jack (Laura) Mabry of Georgetown TX and Lois (Del) Barber of Salem, OR.
Loretta will be remembered for her keen sense of humor. Shortly after her 100th birthday, she asked, "Now that I'm 100, what am I supposed to do?" When asked about a recent event, she looked puzzled and then said, "I think my memory took a hike." She also said, "I have so many memories – I just don't know which of them are true."
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 6th 2014 at 11:00 at the Monte Vista Cemetery, 731 1st Ave. Monte Vista, Colorado 81144.
Arrangements are in care of Strohmayer's Funeral Home, 205 S. Broadway, Monte Vista, Colorado 81144.
