Juanita Chavez, 79 of Santa Rosa, NM died Monday, September 24, 2012 at Guadalupe County Hospital following an illness.She was born December 8, 1932 in San Ignacio, NM to the home of Lorenzo and Prudencia (Lopez) Duran.

She was a homemaker. Juanita was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who read her bible daily. Juanita was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Herlindo Chavez and Miguel Salas, two daughters Esther Griego and Christine Garcia, four sons Raymond Salas, Martin Salas, Freddy Salas and Tony Salas, a granddaughter Marla Bailey, a sister Mary Gutierrez and a brother Albert Duran.

Survivors include a son Anthony Salas of Santa Rosa; a grandson raised as a son Phillip Campos of Santa Rosa; seven daughters Gloria Salas of Fort Sumner, NM, Perla Bailey of Santa Rosa, Lucille Salas of Santa Rosa, Martha Salas of Santa Rosa, Prescilla Aragon and husband Nick of Los Lunas, NM, Barbara Duke and husband John of Fort Sumner, and Samantha Cardenas and husband Hector of Albuquerque, three nieces Debbie Ramirez, Margaret Knight, and Theresa Duran and a nephew Jake Gutierrez along with 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and a host of friends and other relatives.
