Feb. 7, 1976 Athol Worcester County Massachusetts, USA
Immigrant from Lithuania, arrived at Ellis Island on July 6, 1914.
Married name spelled "Davidaitis" when arrived to U.S. Have not located documentation she was naturalized.
Sons chose different last names when naturalized - "David" and "Daviditis". One son (Anthony) did not make a change because he died at a young age - about the time the siblings were filing first papers. Benadykta did not change the spelling. Her children born in U.S. after immigration, spelled last name "Daviditis".
Mrs. Benedicta Markavitch Davidaitis, 88, of 459 Lenox Street died Saturday in the Fleetwood Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Anthony Davidaitis.
Mrs. Davidaitis leaves two sons, John and Victor Davidaitis both of town, one daughter Mrs. Blanche Qualters of town, and two grandsons.
She was born in Lithuania, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Markavitch and had resided in town for 70 years.
The funeral will be held Tuesday from the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home with a Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Francis Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are 7-9 p.m. today.
