A native of Riga, Latvia, Zholtok played the position of Center for teams in the NHL, Russia, IHL, USSR-Jr., EJC-A, Fr-Tour, CIS, AHL, USSR, WC-B, WC-A, and the WJC-A hockey leagues. At 6'00, and 185lbs, Zholthok played for the Dynamo Riga Jr. from 1989 to 1990, USSR from 1989 to 1990, Dynamo Riga from 1990 to 1991, Soviet Union from 1990 to 1991, Riga Stars from 1991 to 1992, Russia from 1991 to 1992, Boston Bruins from 1992 to 1995, Latvia from 1993 to 1994, Las Vegas Thunder from 1995 to 1997, Ottawa Senators from 1996 to 1998, Montreal Canadiens from 1998 to 2001, Fredericton Canadiens from 1998 to 1999, Latvia from 1998 to 2004, Quebec Citadelles frm 1999 to 2000, Edmonton Oilers from 2000 to 2001, Minnesota Wild from 2001 to 2004, and the Nashville Predators from 2003 to 2004. Originally selected by the Boston Bruins round 3 #55 overall in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, Zholtok was the recipient of the Ironman Award for 1995 to 1996. On November 3, 2004, while playing hockey for Latvia due to the 2004-2005 NHL lockout, Zholtok collapsed in the teams dressing room after a game in Minsk, Belarus. Zholtok was later pronounced dead of heart failure at the age of 31. (bio by: K)
