Gordon D. Orput, president of Orput-Walsh & Associates, employe benefits administrators, died in a local hospital Thursday at 71.

Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Sunday in the Holman Mortuary, with private Mass Monday. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Mr. Orput, who lived in Wilsonville, was born in Plattsville, Wis.

He was a past president of Oregon State Life Underwriters Association, Life Insurance Managers Association of Oregon, Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross, Rose Festival Association, was past president and director of United Good Neighbors, and had been state finance chairman of the Republic Party.

In 1975 Mr. Orput received the H.G. (Bud) Horn Memorial Award from the Oregon Association of Life Underwriters for longtime meritorious service to the life insurance industry.

In 1946, he was president of New England Mutual Life Insurance Co. Life Leaders Association and in 1964 was president of New England Life General Agents Association.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine; four daughters, Jill Ufford of West Lebanon, N.H., Joanne Mahler of Woodland Hills, Calif., Jacqueline Stalmer of San Diego, Calif., and Josephine Rollinson of Chattanooga, Ten.; and nine grandchildren.
