MUNCIE--Wilson H. "Will" Parker, 90, passed away Tuesday evening, September 18, 2012 at Elmcroft of Muncie surrounded by his family.

He was born February 27, 1922 in Danville one of ten children to Herbert Lorn and Ethel May (Dooley) Parker, DVM, graduated from Danville High School, where he was president of the Junior and Senior classes. Will served in the US Navy during World War II and married Lois Helen Marquardt on July 1, 1944. He worked his way through DePauw University, receiving his Bachelor's Degrees in Political Science and Economics in 1949, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and president of DePauw University Student Body and moved to Muncie in 1953.

Mr. Parker was Executive Vice-President of Indiana Jaycees, Executive Director Indiana Society for Crippled Children, and was Senior Vice-President and Chief Administrative Officer of Industrial Trust and Savings Bank (now Bank One) until his retirement in 1987.

He was past member of Westview School Community Council, past president of Muncie Kiwanis Club, founder of Delaware County Mental Health Association, former board member of Delaware County Mental Health Association, former treasurer of Delaware County Society for the Crippled, former treasurer and board member of East Central Indiana Heart Foundation (chairman 1972 Heart Fund), past president of Muncie Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, one of the original organizers and early presidents of Catalina Swim Club, former member of board of directors of Muncie Jaycees (selected as "Outstanding Young Man of the Year" in 1956, "Boss of the Year" in 1966, and "Honorary Jaycee" in 1978), Boy Scout Leader (Chairman Cub Pack Committee five times, member two Boy Scout Troup Committees, president of Delaware County Council Boy Scouts of America two terms), served United Way of Delaware County in various capacities (General Chairman in 1970, 1974 and 1975 Budget Review Committee, board of directors 1977-1980, President 1977-1978), former member of board of directors of YMCA, board of directors of PAL Club of Boys, board of directors of Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, former volunteer board member of Muncie, Industrial Park, Inc. (a development to bring new industry to Muncie), board of trustees of Ball State University 1970-1983 (president 1980-1983, chairman Presidential Search and Screening Committee 1978-1979), recipient 1979 Benny Award from Ball State University Alumni Association for service to Ball State University, named Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Bowen in 1980 and Governor Orr in 1983, member board of directors Ball State University Foundation 1980-1983 (Director Emeritus 1984), member board of deacons at Hazelwood Christian Church 1985-1987, recipient Horatio Alger Award by Muncie Boys Club in 1989, member Ball Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, member Ball Memorial Hospital Festival of Trees and Lights Advisory Board (chairman Advertising Committee 1991 and Sponsorship Committee 1992), member Ad Hoc Committee to research past giving to Ball Memorial Hospital and determine contributors recognition for Ball Memorial Hospital Foundation 1992, president City Board of Works and Public Safety 1992-1994 and 1996-1998, member advisory board Ball Memorial Hospital Diabetes Care Center since 1992, named honorary member of Muncie Rotary Club 1993, former member board of governors Minnetrista Cultural Center, president Diabetes Support Group of Delaware County 1994-1996 and 1998-1999, recipient Delaware County VIVA Lifetime Achievement Award 1998; Republican Party Service; precinct committeeman, chairman republican meetings, delegate to state convention, state platform committee 1966, state research and study committees, chairman Delaware County 1963-1966 and 1987-1990, campaign chairman for Delaware County 1972.

Survivors besides his wife of 68 years are four sons, John Kent Parker (wife-Toni) of Yorktown, Dan Wilson Parker (wife-Sara Beth) of Orlando, FL, Tom Crawford Parker (wife-Tammy) of Muncie, and Scott Robert Parker of Muncie; 11 grandchildren, Debbie Mohn (Dave) of Fishers, Ryan Parker (Melissa) of Phoenix, Rick Parker (Jennifer) of Carmel, Steven Parker (Holli) of Fishers, Wilson Parker of Orlando, FL, Danielle Parker of Orlando, FL, Zachary Parker of Muncie, Samuel Parker of Muncie, Scott Kohler of Muncie, Shelby Parker of Muncie, and Heather Pier of Muncie; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Parker of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by six sisters, Mary Pushor, Eleanor Williams, Martha Clayton, Lois Parker, Angie Nicholson, and Helen Bywaters; and three brothers, Crawford, William, and Robert Parker.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2012 in Hazelwood Christian Church with Rev. Colby Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday or one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
