J. WYCKOFF VAN SICLEN

J. Wyckoff Van Siclen, one of the oldest and best-known residents of the Twenty-sixth Ward, died on Saturday, in his seventy-second year, at his home, No. 116 Hendrix-st. The funeral will be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon. Mr. Van Siclen was descended from the Wyckoff and Van Siclen families, after each of whom he was named, and who were among the first settlers of the town of New-Lots, afterward East New-York. Mr. Van Siclen owned at one time the farm which extended from the Eastern Parkway to the New-Lots Road and from the farm of Henry Wyckoff to Van Sicklen-ave. The original real estate Mr. Van Siclen sold to Mr. Pitkin, who was the founder of the village of East New-York. Mr. Van Siclen retired from farming twenty-five years ago, and went to live in a house in Fulton-st., which afterward torn down to make room for the Brooklyn Elevated Railroad.
