James P. Thibideau, 65, of 1812 Piedmont Ave., died Saturday in St. Luke's Hospital. Born in Duluth, he was a lifelong resident. He was employed as a marine engineer for over 40 years at Great Lakes Towing, where he retired in 1980. He served in the merchant marine during World War II and was a member of the Licensed Tugmen and Pilots Protective Association. He was a member of West Duluth Moose Lodge No. 1478, United Northern Sportsmen and the National Rifle Association. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn; one daughter, Theresa Ernst of Twig; two stepsons, Duane Milner of Minneapolis and Loren Milner of Hollywood, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Dianne Walli of Aurora, Colo.; one sister, Dorothy Gross of Duluth; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bell Brothers Funeral Home. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Monday.
