"Aged Sharpsville Woman is Called
Brief Illness Fatal To Mrs. Amelia Chase
Sharon Herald, January 23,
1937, page 1

Mrs. Amelia R. Chase, widow of George Chase, 92, one of Sharpsville's oldest and most highly regarded residents, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her son, John Chase, 736 Pierce Avenue, following a brief illness.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rebecca Honey and was born in Brookfield. She had lived practically her entire life in Mercer County, the last years of which had been spent with her son John and family.

Mrs. Chase was active about the house and had many small household duties which she delighted in doing. Her favorite work was piecing quilts and she had many beautiful quilts to her credit. She was a faithful member of the United Brethren Church but was not active in attendance due to her infirmities.

Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. Flora Clark, Sharpsville, and Mrs. Elise Slater, Greenville; three sons, Chester, Sharon, and John and Charles, Sharpsville; one sister, Mrs. Archie Bortner, Sharpsville; and 16 grandchildren. The body will remain at the home of John Chase, 736 Pierce Avenue until services Monday at 2:30 at the Stevenson Funeral Home, Ridge Avenue. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery."
