Wendell Gene Brown, 80, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at 6:35 a.m. at the Missouri Veteran’s Home, Mt. Vernon, Mo.

Mr. Brown was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Carthage, Mo., the son of William Ellsworth Brown and Julia Eva (Schaller) Brown. He was a 1945 graduate of the Carthage Senior High School and attended Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, Mo.
He served in the United States Army during WWII. He worked as a General Clerk for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He married Glennadale Ginger Cook on March 9, 1950, in Gentry, Ark. She preceded in death on June 8, 2003. His parents and a brother, Don Brown also preceded him in death. One daughter, Glenda Brown, Carthage, Mo., two sons, Gregory Brown, Lincoln, Neb., Jeff Brown, Carthage, Mo., and a brother, Maynard Brown, Joplin, Mo., survive him.

Funeral services for Wendell Gene Brown, 80, who passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at the Missouri Veteran's Home, Mt. Vernon, Mo., were held Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Knell Mortuary Chapel.

Bishop Derek Martin officiated, Reed Mitton said the opening prayer, his daughter Glenda Brown gave the eulogy, David Petersen spoke, and John Sageng said the closing prayer. The congregation sang, "How Great Thou Art," and "I know that My Redeemer Lives." Derek and Sherry Martin, John and Brenda Sageng sang "Abide With Me." Jeanne Sneddon provided accompaniment on the keyboard.

Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice in care of the Knell Mortuary.
