William (Bill) Charles Nickel, 74, of Kamiah, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Lewiston. Bill was born April 19, 1938, in Orofino, to Lloyd and Myrtle (Howell) Nickel.

Bill was very active as a Boy Scout and became an Eagle Scout. Bill graduated from Kamiah High School in Kamiah, and joined the U.S. Army. He later transferred to the U.S. Navy. After serving his country he returned to Kamiah and became long-time manager of Harold's Club. He also sold cars for a year.

Bill married Alma Cox Kinzer July 17, 1971, in Kamiah. Bill and Alma loved to travel and camp. He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed playing cribbage and was active in Jaycees and the VFW.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Nickel; mother Myrtle Gilman; son Thomas R. Kinzer; and grandson Chad McMillan.

Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years, Alma; his children, Daryl (Donna) Kinzer of Kamiah, Amy (Mike) Wemhoff and David Kinzer of Lewiston, and Marilyn (Bob) Robison of Boise; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Buddy Nickel of Riverside, Calif.; and one sister, Terri Gilman of Los Angeles.

Memorial donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5407, 3376 Tamarack Lane, Kamiah, ID 83536.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Trenary Funeral Home Chapel in Kooskia.

Graveside Service with military honors will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kamiah City Cemetery, Kamiah. Arrangements are by Trenary Funeral Home in Kooskia.
