PICARD, CHARLES L.—Charles L. Picard was born to Charles Picard and Maude Tomlin Picard on October 30, 1909, at Geneva, and passed away on June 27, 1982, at the Fillmore County hospital at the age of 72 years, seven months and 27 days. He was the only child in the family.

Charles Picard was raised and educated in Geneva and graduated from Geneva high school with the class of 1927.

His profession was pharmacy and he practiced his profession in several communities until opening his own store in Geneva in 1941. Upon selling his store in 1955, he started a new venture in motels and resorts in several states. But regardless of his place of residence, Charles always considered Geneva his home, and was active and supportive in the city’s growth and development.

He was married to Louise Koehler of Geneva on October 5, 1928, and to them five children were born.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan.

He is survived by the following: wife, Louise of Geneva; four sons, William K. of Omaha, Charles L. of Geneva, John L. of Wichita, Ks. and Benjamin H. of Springfield; and by ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Charles will always be remembered by his family and friends for his quick wit mixed with compassion for others.

He always had time in life to talk and play with children. They all remembered him fondly in later life for the attention he paid to them.

He requested that his memorial go to the Fillmore County hospital, which he campaigned for in several elections.

Services were held at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Geneva, on Tuesday, June 29, 1982.

Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.

The organist was Mrs. Willard Foster.

Pallbearers were Vaughn C. Fulton, John R. Bixby, George I. Cruse, Warren Rischling, Chester Dudley and Robert Nichols.
