Birth: Apr. 12, 1836
Death: Apr. 10, 1905

Died--Monday, at 12:30 p. m. Maxim Pipen, an old and highly respected citizen of this vicinity, living one half mile south of town. Mr. Pipen has been a sufferer from Bright's disease for years and for the past six months has been confined to the house, but his death came as a surprise, for he seemed improved in health the day he died and after eating a hearty dinner returned to his bed and fell back dead. Deceased was born in Quebec, Canada. in the year 1836. When a young man his parents moved to Michigan. He came to Morrison county in 1868 and took a homestead one half mile south of town, in Tod county, where he has since continued to reside. He leaves, besides a wife, six daughters and four sons to mourn his loss, namely, Mrs. Alec Tumberg, Brainerd; Mrs. Linster, Mrs. Chevalier and Mrs. Eldred, and Miss Delia Pipen of this village and Emma Pipen of Duluth, Joseph and John Pipen of this village and Simeon and Frank Pipen, who are sailors on the battleship Kearsarge in the West Indies. The funeral services were conducted from the Catholic church Thursday. Father Gans officiating. A large number of friends were present to pay their last respects to the deceased. He was interred in the fair cemetery. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of all.
