Laura was the eldest of 3 daughters born to William Bennett Seats and Martha Richmond Seats. Her sisters were Ora Seats Lund and Bess E. Seats Westafer and they were first cousins to Grandma, Delia Ann Box Alcorn.

Laura's first marriage was to a "McKay" and her second marriage was to Charles Franklin Rickman.

I have heard that the sewing machine my brother now owns belonged to Nancy J. "Nannie" Seats (our paternal great-great-aunt) and was used by her to make dresses for nieces Laura, her sisters Ora & Bessie, and Grandma Delia for the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.

Laura's obituary was published in the 8-2-1973 edition of The Current Local, Van Buren, Carter Co., MO on page 8 under "Ellsinore Area News" (used with permission).

Mrs. Laura (Seats) Rickman, age 84, a former Ellsinore girl, died in her sleep in St. Louis one night the past week. Her funeral was held Saturday at Poplar Bluff, and interment took place in the Grandin Cemetery. Ellsinore folk who attended the interment service at Grandin were Mr. and Mrs. Naud Tucker, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kingen and Mrs. J. E. Long. We also saw Mrs. Bert Partney and her husband, Orrin, of Van Buren at the cemetery.

Laura was the oldest daughter of the late W. B. Seats, and she was a cousin to Mrs. Tucker, Mrs. Orrin Partney and Mrs. Deal Alcorn. As a girl she attended grade school at Ellsinore in 1908, along with myself and the girl who is now Mrs. Kingen.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ora Lund of Taos, N.M. Ora was here for the funeral.
