NESS CITY - Dora Brown, 88, died March 10,2008, Cedar Village, Ness City.

She was born April 23, 1919, on family farm near Ransom, the daughter of Adolph and Anna Roeidger Schweitzer. A resident of Ness City for the past 11 years, moving from Danby Valley, near Brownell, she was a homemaker.

She was an active member of the Assembly of God Church, Ness City, where she taught Sunday School for 35 years.

On Dec. 23, 1939, she married George Brown, Jr., in LaCrosse, He died Nov. 28, 1987.

Survivors include: a son, Richard and wife Carol, McPherson; a daughter, Ann Chandley and husband John, Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Virginia Conkright, Ransom, and Laurine Brown, Great Bend; four grandchildren, Richard Jones, McCracken, Shelly Drassen, Valley Center, Michelle Miller, Hutchinson, and Gary Brown, McPherson; nine great-grandchildren, Crystal Foust, Otis, Trevor and Tiffany Taylor, Hutchinson, Megan and Allison Drassen, Valley Center, Skyler and Sierra Jones, McCracken, Austin Brown, Yukon, Okla., and Ethan Brown, Augusta; and two great-great-grandchildren, Anton and Kaden Foust, Otis.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Wallace, Garland and Harvey Schweitzer, and five sisters, Helen Zumbrum, Selma Walters, Lena Chapman, Ruth Chapman and Sylvia Wassinger.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, with Pastor Forest Frazier presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vansburg Cemetery, Brownell.

Memorials may be sent to Cedar Village Van Fund, or the Assembly of God Church, both in care of the funeral home.
