|Death: ||May, 1997|
Third dog of three of group one of The Peel's.
She was a pure bred "American Bulldog".
Penelope was rescued from an abusive owner. William was coming home from work when he saw a man at the end of our block holding a dog and kicking it. Then he released it and yelled 'get the hell out of here'. The poor dog came running down the street and Will stopped her, petted her and got her some food and water. She was very thin. While she was eating her abuser came by and said 'if you want that f**king dog, take it'. Some concern about how she would get along with our two cocker spaniels because she looked pretty tough. We thought we'd find her a new home but fell in love with her in just a day or two. She didn't have a mean bone in her body. She was the SWEETEST dog ever, despite her past of being abused, she never showed any aggressiveness to any person or animal. Her only bad habit was jumping the fence to go exploring, and we were able to correct that with training.
Penelope was well traveled, visiting the Pacific Northwest; including Victoria, British Columbia; Seattle, the Hoe Rainforest, Washington; crossing large bodies of water by ferry; Portland, Oregon; Northern California including Redwood National Park & crossed the Mojave Desert; the Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin; all over Nebraska and New Mexico; all in a Orange and White Volkswagon Camper Van.
Penelope brought joy to everyone she met, she was such a HAPPY girl.
She passed away after a 15 month battle with cancer.
She is deeply missed.
Please visit Penelope's brothers & sister, Jason and Max and Bubbles.
