LOUISE GENTRY BINKLEY
FRANKLIN -- Louise Gentry Binkley, 90, died Sunday at Trevecca Health Care Center. She was born March 14, 1911, in Asheville, N.C., to the late Zebulon Beard Gentry and Gertrude Butner Gentry. She moved with her family to Franklin in 1915.
Formerly a personal shopper at the old Loveman's Department Store, she was married in 1946 to William Joseph Binkley of Chicago. Upon his death in 1959, she returned to Franklin, where she operated Miss Louise's Daycare Center for a number of years.
She was a lifelong member of the Fourth Avenue Church of Christ, where she sang in the chorus.
A loving wife and mother, she was a gifted needlewoman and an avid collector of antiques and dolls.
She was preceded in death by her brother David Nolen Gentry.
Survivors include: daughters Dorothy Fleming, Nashville and Sara Tarpley & husband David, Nashville grandchildren Sarah Kreisler & husband John, Atlanta, Catherine Kovell & husband Todd of Seattle, Wash., Margaret Tarpley, Austin, Texas, Andrew, Emily, Matthew and Anna-Laura Tarpley, Nashville great grandchildren Clay and Mary-Kate Kreisler, Atlanta sisters Jessie Lee Harris, Thompson's Station, Dorothy Ewing, Franklin and Francis Binkley & husband Wilbur, Franklin brothers William Gentry & wife Edna, Franklin, Jimmy Gentry & wife Rebecca, Franklin, Bobby Gentry & wife Peggy, Franklin, Dan Gentry & wife Lois, Lewisburg and special friend Ken Yansick, Nashville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Fourth Avenue Church of Christ with Myron Keith and Perry Cotham officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be David Tarpley, John Kreisler, Andrew Tarpley, Jack Whiteman, Bob Gentry, Barry Scales, Robert Reed, Ken Yansick and Matthew Tarpley.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and 1 p.m. until service time at the church Tuesday.
