Barker Meriweather, 71, of 1736 Hale Ave., died at 9:45 a.m. Monday at General Hospital.

He was a native of Montgomery County, Tennessee, and retire several years ago as a production worker at Airco Carbide Co. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Ruby Fultz; a son, Alford Meriweather; four daughters, Mrs. Shirley Freeman of Chicago, Mrs. Lula Daye and Mrs. Bell Green, both of Trenton, and Miss Hattie Meriweather; 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at A. D. Porter & Sons Funeral Home, 1300 W. Chestnut St., with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. The body will be at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Thursday.


His parents were Charlie Meriwether and Maria Barker.
