Anna D. Thiel, 80
Anna Duehning Thiel, 80, Helena valley matron and wife of William C. Thiel of Route A, died Tuesday night at St. Peter's hospital. She had been a patient there for the past two months.
Mrs. Thiel was born in Wausau, Wis., May 18, 1868, and was married to Mr. Thiel in Lincoln, Nebr. Sept. 24, 1890. During the Spanish-American war they resided in Portland, and later moved to a wheat ranch near Spokane, residing there until coming to the Helena Valley in 1920.
Mrs. Thiel was a lifelong member of the Methodist church and had been a member of St. Paul's parish for the last 28 years.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters: Mrs. Odin Jacobson of Spokane, and Mrs. Ben Linder of Anchorage, Alaska; a son, Franklin Thiel of Redwood Valley, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Theresa Allgaier and a brother, William Duehning, both of Spokane, 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Another daughter died in infancy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Opp-Conrad-Retz Chapel. The body will be forwarded to Spokane Saturday morning for funeral services and burial in Fairmount Cemetery there Monday.
