Artie Alifair Absher Keen

Mrs. Artie Alifair Absher Keen,83,passed away Saturday Feb 1 2003 at her home following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Tazewell County Virginia and was a daughter of the late Charles Allen and Rena Chambers Absher both Tazewell County Virginia natives.

She was a lifelong resident of the Tazewell County area.

She was a former bookkeeper for several independent coal operators.

She was among the first postmistresses to serve in Tazewell County Virginia.

She was a life long member of the Richlands Tabernacle and was a very loving friend to her family and community.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband--Mr. Albert T. Keen.

Three brothers--Dewey Absher--Roy Absher and Lloyd Absher.

Survivors are five daughters--Mrs. Pauline Keen Woodall and husband William Woodall of Tazewell Virginia--Mrs. Shelma Keen Richardson and husband Cecil Richardson of Tazewell Virginia--Mrs. Claudine Keen Lockhart of Tazewell Virginia--Mrs. Carolyn Keen Lewis and husband Jack Lewis of Lexington Kentucky and Mrs. Beverly Keen Farmer and husband Jimmy Farmer of Rosedale Virginia.

Four sisters--Mrs. Mattie Absher Stilwell and husband Charlie W. Stilwell of Steelesburg Virginia--Mrs. Rosa Absher Messick and husband Edward Messick of Pounding Mill Virginia--Mrs. Nell Absher Buckles and husband Joe Buckles of Stafford Virginia and Mrs. Maxie Absher Williamson and husband Bernard Williamson of Stafford Virginia.

One brother--Mr. James T. Absher of Raven Virginia.

Nine grandchildren--Thirteen great-grandchildren and two special care givers--Doris Neal and Karen Tignor.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at one at the Richlands Tabernacle in Richlands Virginia with Rev. Phillip Horton--Rev. Ralph Horton--Rev. David Horton and Rev. James Horton officiating.

Pallbearers will be--Richie Richardson--Dale Woodall--James Lewis--Anthony Lockhart--Benjamine Lockhart--Jared Farmer--Joshua Dye--Jordan Robinett--Hunter Woodall and Chase Richardson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be--Dr. Phillip Peterson and Dr. Steven Rinehart.

Friends may call at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands Virginia after six Monday.

Burial will be in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill Virginia.
