John W. Rogers was born in Carrolton, Missiouri, May 21, 1873 and departed this life December 10, 1941 at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 19 days.
Mr. Rogers came to Custer County with his parents when a young man where he met and married Jane Cutrell. He filed for a homestead norht(sic) of Strong City, in Roger Mills County about 1902 where he lived until his death. He is survived by his wife Jane. Six children were born to this union; two sons, Robert Rogers of Peonia, Colorado, and Daniel Rogers of Norwalk, California, and four daughters, one of which, Maggie, preceeded him in death. The surviving daughters are: Mrs. Hiram Triplett of Palisadxe,(sic) Colorado, Mrs. Jesse McClellan and Mrs. Doyle Walker both of Strong City. There are also surviving fifteen grand children and one great grand child.
The deceased was converted and baptized into the Baptist Church about twenty years ago. He was a good father, a loving husband and a friend to all who knew him. He was especially fond of small children who in turn liked him because of hisd(sic) jovial good humor.
Internment in the Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
