Lewis was a Navajo Code Talker during World War II

Lewis Ayze, 84, died on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, in Farmington. He was born Nov. 5, 1927, in Lybrook, to George and Doris Juan Ayze. He was born to the Tangled Clan and he was born for Bitter Water.
He was preceded in death by his son, Clarence Ayze; his daughter, Jean Ayze Dee; his brothers, Harrison Ayze, George Ayze and Bobby Ayze; sisters, Katherine Sandoval, Helen Harrison and Violet Etcitty; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Lewis is survived by his son, Alfred Ayze; daughter, Arlene Ayze; brothers, Bill Ayze, Eddie Ayze, Ernest Ayze and Daniel Ayze; sisters, Frances Haines and Ruth Ayze and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Cope Memorial Chapel, in Farmington, with pastor Tom Guerito officiating.
Burial will follow at B.I.C. Mission Cemetery in Otis.
The reception will be at Huerfeno Chapter House.
