William Manning, 638 Washington
Avenue, died at the Washington
County Hospital Tuesday at 8:45
p.m., after an illness of ten days.
He was 81 years old.
Born in Danville, Pa., he was the
son of the late Joseph and Eliza-
beth (McCormick) Manning, and
was a conductor on the passenger
train between Waynesboro and
York, Pa., for Western Mary-
land Railroad, before retiring in
He was a member of Grace
E. U. B. Church, the Western
Maryland Relief, and the Western
Enterprise Fire Company.
Survivng are daughter, Mrs.
Elizabeth M. Curlee, Hagerstown;
stepson, Harry Manning, Wilden,
W. Va.; sisters, Mrs. Adda M.
Gaines, Hagerstown; and Mrs.
Fred Wilkes, Shenandoah, Va.
The services will be held at the
Suter Funeral Home Friday at
2 p.m., the Rev. G. I. Rider offica-
ting, with interment in Rose Hill
