Gary is singing with the angels in the Heavenly choir. Gary a child of the King left this world surrounded by angels and his family on Friday, April 27, 2007 at Western Baptist Hospital.
Gary was born September 15, 1941 in Alton, Illinois. He was a graduate of Murray State University with a degree in Music. He was First Lieutenant in United States Army stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. He was president and owner of Harper's Country Hams where he worked along side his son Brian Harper. He was past president of National Country Ham Association and Kentucky Ham Producers, sat on the Board of Directors at Clinton Bank. His dedication to the Lord through ministries included youth, choir, handbells, praise and worship bands for over 30 years at Clinton First Baptist Church and with Christ Love Ministries- a non-profit organization founded by Gary over 30 years ago for the promotion of Christian music and events. He moved people and propelled events all through life.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Dolores Torian Harper of Clinton, Ky., a son Brian Robert (Tina) Harper of Clinton. Two grandsons- Jonah Robert Harper and Jacob Elliott Harper both of Clinton. Mother-in-law Roberta Torian of Clinton. Several nieces and nephews and his loyal and lovable pet poodle Winston.
He was preceded in death by parents Curtis Samuel Harper and Thelma Dean McMurry Harper and grandparents Ed and Esther Harper and Wesley and Carrie McMurry.
A private family burial will take place.
A celebration of Gary Harper's life will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at 6:30 pm at Clinton First Baptist Church Family Life Center. Friends may call after 5 pm on Tuesday at the Church.
Donations can be made to Christlove, Inc. a non-profit organization founded by Gary over 30 years ago for the promotion of Christian music and events.
