He hit the National League's first grand slam in World Series history in Game 4 of the 1962 World Series against the New York Yankees. His hit snapped a seventh-inning tie and helped the San Francisco Giants to a 7-3 victory. He played second base in the major leagues from 1961-68, batted .243 with 20 home runs and 152 RBIs, on the San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets.
