George Robert "Bob" Bowling passed from this life on September 7th, 2012 at Solara of West Houston. He was ninety-three.
Born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, Bob was an alumnus of Decatur Central High School and Butler University. He served in the Army Signal Corps during WW II and was employed by Link-Belt Ball Bearing for forty-two years. Bob was a lifetime member of the American Legion and was an amateur HAM radio operator, but his lifelong passions were square and round dancing, and he continued to participate in dances until earlier this year.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, George William and Helen Grimes Bowling. two younger siblings, brother Lawrence Bowling and sister Mary Theobald, and by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Moore Bowling. He is survived by daughter Donna Borengasser and her husband Joe of Katy, TX; grandson Neal Habicht and wife Tish, also of Katy, TX and two great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Kristen.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079. Interment will occur on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012.
