Two Clinton Men Killed, Four injured, in Wreck

Two Clinton men were killed and four injured, one of them critically, late Tuesday night when their automobile failed to make a curve on U. S. highway 66 and crashed into a ditch two and a half miles southeast of El Reno.
Arley E. Trent, 25, of 318 south Third street.
Richard H. Stricklan, 53, of 437 south Eighteenth street.
Most seriously injured of the survivors was Olin H. Mohr, 30, who suffered internal injuries, a broken right leg, hip facture and severe lacerations. He was in an El Reno hospital where attaches described his condition as critical.
Others injured were John Stricklan, 17, son of the fatally injured man, suffering a jaw injury and cuts on his knees and thighs; Leslie Earl Sasser, 24, back injury and several broken ribs; and Virgil Stratton, 29, cuts on his legs and severe bruises.
Highway patrolmen said the automobile

Stricklan, driver of the car, failed to make the right-hand turn on highway 66 that leads into El Reno. The accident occurred at 11:30 p.m. while the men were on their way back to Clinton from the all-star baseball game at Oklahoma City.
Trent was dead upon arrival at the El Reno hospital. He suffered a broken neck, hospital attaches said. Stricklan died at 2:35 a.m. today from skull fracture and internal injuries. Trent was riding in the middle in the back seat of the car.
Trent Rites Thursday
All the men in the car except John Stricklan were employes(sic) of Swift & Co. here. Stricklan was general foreman of the plant, and Trent was chief clerk. Young Stricklan is a highschool student.
Funeral services for Trent will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Clinton First Baptist church with Rev. W. A. Darden of Oklahoma City in charge. He will be assisted by Dr. H. W. Stigler, pastor of the local church.
Burial services will be held at the Clinton cemetery with Kern and Schneider funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Trent was born in Custer county, near Hammon. He had been a resident of Clinton for six years. He is survvied(sic) by his wife; small son, James Gerald; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Trent of Hammon; a brother, Charles C. Trent of Clinton; and three sisters, Mrs. J. R. Morrow of Sweetwater, Okla., Mrs. C. W. Shaw of Gotebo and Mrs. Ted Baggett of Clinton.

ARLIE TRENT KILLED IN CAR ACCIDENT
Arlie(sic) Trent, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Trent of Hammon was killed instantly Tuesday night in an automobile accident. The accident took place on U.S. 66 south and east of El Reno where the three-way highway intersects with the to-way(sic) lane , the car in which Trent was riding failing to make the turn, according to the best information available. Trent was killed instantly, and another man, Strickland(sic), driver of the car died soon after the accident. A third man suffered a broken leg.
Six men, all employees of the Swift Company of Clinton were en route home from Oklahoma City where they had gone to see a ball game. Trent was chief clerk for Swift Company and Strickland(sic) was plant manager.
Trent, who is about 23(sic) years of age, is survived by his wife and one child, of Clinton, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Trent, of Hammon, three sisters and one brother. The sisters are Mrs. J. R. Morrow jr. of Sweetwater, Oklahoma; Mrs. Clarence(sic) Baggett of Clinton, Oklahoma; and Mrs. C. W. Shaw of Gotebo, Oklahoma. The brother is Charles Trent of Clinton, Oklahoma.
