Ivan LeRoy Nichols died of heart failure, October 17th, 2004 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ivan was born in Payson, Utah, October 11, 1924 to Clarence Ivan Nichols and Hazel Lindsey Nichols. He married Elaine Cannon on March 22, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be greatly missed. He was a gentle, loving, punctual, and thoughtful person. His family was glad to celebrate his 80th birthday with him last week. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from the University of Utah in Metallurgical Engineering and retired from the U.S. Bureau of Mines. Ivan served an LDS Church Genealogical Mission with his beloved wife. He served faithfully in many LDS Church callings including Ward Clerk and Stake Genealogical Extraction Coordinator. Survived by: children, Julie (Jerry) Goodro, Gary (Jeanette) Nichols, Tina (Wilford) Mueller, Kirk (Lucy) Nichols, Lynn (Susan) Nichols, Allan (Paula) Nichols, and niece Jody Lee (Kevin) Johnson, and 22 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, loving wife Elaine Cannon Nichols, sisters Hazel Aliene, Donna Lee, Joan Narovitch, and three infant great grandchildren. Funeral services held Thursday, October 21 at the Foothill 6th Ward Chapel, 2215 E. Roosevelt Ave (1455 So). Interment at Redwood Memorial Mortuary.
