Son of Harper Anson Demmon and Lucy Pearsons Bryant. His obituary gives his birth date as 30 Oct 1849 and this matches the information from the 1900 census of Fitchburg, Massachusetts and his age at death from his death record. His grave marker, however, gives a birth year of 1847.

At the age of 14, he enlisted in the military in Mar 1864 from Groton, Vermont for service during the Civil War. He served as a Private in Co F, 17th Vermont. In Jul 1864 he was promoted to Corporal. He fought in the Battles of the Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor and the siege before Petersburg, Virginia. He mustered out at the end of the war in Jul 1865 at Washington, D.C.

He married Abbie E. Vorce on 18 Feb 1872 in Sterling, Massachusetts. They had children:

. Arthur A. Demmon (1872 - 1894)
. Addie I. Demmon (1882 - 1896)

He was a house painter and farmer. He also worked in a railroad car shop and drove a dry goods delivery wagon. He died of a stroke at the age of 50, 7 months, 20 days.

His mother and brother William M. Demmon are buried in this same cemetery.
