He fought in the Battles of the Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor and the siege before Petersburg, Virginia. He mustered out at the end of the war in Jul 1865 at Washington, D.C.
He married Abbie E. Vorce on 18 Feb 1872 in Sterling, Massachusetts. They had children:
. Arthur A. Demmon (1872 - 1894)
. Addie I. Demmon (1882 - 1896)
He was a house painter and farmer. He also worked in a railroad car shop and drove a dry goods delivery wagon. He died of a stroke at the age of 50, 7 months, 20 days.
His mother and brother William M. Demmon are buried in this same cemetery.
