PRINCETON Herbert Clay "Pee Wee" Barker, 73 of 1202 Thornton Ave., Princeton, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at his residence.
Born July 17, 1925, in Marion, Va., he was the son of the late Denzil P. and Beulah Rebecca Reed Barker. He was a retired signal maintainer working for 36 years for the N & W, Virginian and Norfolk & Southern Railroads. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II as a signalman on a destroyer. He had lived in Princeton since 1971, moving from Pineville. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Barker and French Barker.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Edna Ann Kimberling Barker; one daughter, Peggy Barker of Princeton; one son, Barry Barker and wife Penny of Goshen, Va.; five grandchildren, Sarah Beth Lacy and husband Matt of Jupiter, Fla., Maryann Barker of Virginia, Brittany Barker of Jupiter, Joseph Barker of Jupiter and Jonathan Booth of Princeton; one brother, Raymond Barker and wife Rachael of Marion, Va.; three sisters, Cerita Bohon and husband Ike of Chesapeake, Va., Juanita Roop and husband Roy of Wilmington, Del., and Reba Dunford of Virginia; and brother and sisters-in-law, David and Jean Williams of Bland, Va., and Ralph and Patsy Kimberling of Roanoke, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at George W. Seaver Funeral Home Chapel, Princeton, with Dr. David Dockery and the Rev. David T. Williams officiating. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Mausoleum, Princeton.
Pallbearers will be George Lewis, Jack Daniels, Delbert Johnson, Barry Akers, Harry Morris, Dillard Ables, Bill Thomas and Bob Hylton.
Friends may call today at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
