David L. Barnes, 57, of Onaga, died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at his home.

He was born July 7, 1955 at Onaga, the son of Jarrel and Iris Summers Barnes. He graduated from Onaga High School in 1973.

David was a farmer, stockman, and a dairyman. He retired in 1983, due to his health.

He was a member of the Soldier Christian Church and attended New Hope Lutheran Church in Onaga. He was an avid follower of his kids with their sports and other activities until he was no longer able to do so.

David married Jo Lynn Platt on October 28, 1973 at Duluth. She survives, of the home.

David was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include a son, Andrew Barnes and wife Lindsey, Topeka; three daughters, Dana Carman and husband Brad, Silver Lake, Heather Broxterman and husband Ricky, Silver Lake, and Miranda Force and husband Brian, Wamego; one brother, Randy Barnes and Stephanie, Castle Rock, WA; nine grandchildren, and eight nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 10th at the New Hope Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Soldier Cemetery.
