Mrs. Ethel Mae Austin Brickle, 89, resided at 5473 Charleston Highway, Bowman, then was a resident of The Methodist Oaks, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at The Methodist Oaks, Orangeburg.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 1, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Marvin Clark and Lonnie Shull officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer
Baptist Church Cemetery, Cordova.

She was born Oct. 8, 1914, in Orangeburg County, the daughter of the late John Stacey Austin and the late Nettie Mae Dantzler Austin. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bowman. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurie Jay Brickle; two sisters, Elise Austin
Cherry and Dovie Lou Austin.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. James (Sadie) Padgett, of Orangeburg and Mrs. James (Virginia) Miller, of Bowman; one son, Robert (Sandra) Brickle, of Norway; one
brother, Harvey Brickle, of Orangeburg; one nephew, David (Barbara) Cherry, of Orangeburg; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; seven
stepgreatgrandchildren; five sisters-in-law; Winnie Brickle, of Orangeburg, Hazel Shull, of West Columbia, Barbara Austin, of Greensboro, N.C., Myrtis Hinkle, of Myrtle Beach and Barbara Thick, of Anderson.
