Harry C. Spangler, 79, of Nittany Valley died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Lock Haven Hospital.
Born April 8, 1922, in Nittany, he was a son of the late Robert and Emma Walizer Spangler.
On June 26, 1946, in Marsh Creek, he married Alice Marie Young, who died June 26, 1993.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the military police.
He was a self-employed farmer in Nittany for more than 30 years. He worked for the Bellefonte Area School District for approximately 15 years, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the Bellefonte Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1600, the Millheim Fire Co., and the Rebersburg Fire Co.
He enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by two daughters, Nora M. Burd of Nittany Valley and Lorraine K. Yearick of Lamar; two sons, Larry H. Young of Centre Hall and Kenneth R. Spangler of Port Matilda; a sister, Ruth Orner of Corry; a brother, Dean Spangler of Philadelphia; nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Alan S. Eckenroad officiating.
Burial will be in Hublersburg Cemetery in Walker Township, where military honors will be accorded.
