Antrim (County Antrim)
County Antrim, Northern Ireland
|Death: ||Aug. 3, 1824|
William and his wife Mary and son Andrew (the younger) and father Andrew (the elder) all came to the new United States around 1785 and settled in Washington County, PA before buying land near Saltzburg, Indiana County, PA and moving there. By 1800, William and his family had moved to Westmoreland County, PA and by 1810, they had moved to South Buffalo TWP, Armstrong County, PA where William died in 1824. William and Mary Kier had at least one child, Andrew, and some sources suggest they also had three daughters: Elizabeth Kier, June Kier, and Unknown girl Kier.
There is a controversy about William Kier's year of birth. The 1800 Census says his age is between 26 and 44. And the 1810 census says he is 45 or older. For William to be over 45 or older in 1810 means that he had to be at least 35 years old in 1800. Therefore, William was between 35 and 44 in 1800. In this case, he would have to have been born between 1756 and1765.
