Funeral services were held at the Catholic church in Cheyenne last Saturday, March 16, 1940 for J.A. Reynolds who died last Thursday March 14, 1940. Interment was in the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills county, Oklahoma under the direction of the Tunnard Funeral Home of Cheyenne.
John Alfred Reynolds was born October 16, 1878 near Monticello, Indiana. He came to Oklahoma in 1901 and homesteaded near Roll, Roger Mills county.
In 1914 he was married to Francis Reynolds and the wife and two children survive. The children are Alfred and Margaret.
He is also survived by three sisters and two brothers who are Mrs. H.L. Phillips of Houston, Texas. Miss Capitola Reynolds, also of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Roy Gilbreath of Suisun, Colorado; Lee Reynolds of Oklahoma City, Oklaholma; and Frank Reynolds of Crawford, Oklahoma.
Mr. Reynolds and his family moved to Allison, Texas, several years ago, where he resided until his death, March 14, 1940.
Rev. A. Gaerhart of Elk City preached the funeral sermon in the presence of a large crowd of relatives and friends.
Among those from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bumpus and family of Sulphur, Oklahoma;
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Eckroat, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Beavin; Mrs. Glenn Blair; Mrs. Russell Murphy; Mrs. Mickey Hall; Mrs. Edgar Keel; and Mrs. Lowell Carlton, all of Oklahoma City.
The entire faculty of the Allison school, were among the many others of Allison and Wheeler, Texas to attend the funeral.
