She was born in Dow Flat or Everett in rural Plaster Rock, Gordon Parish, Victoria, Canada. She married Tyler Giberson, son of Nelson Giberson and his wife Mary Giberson, between 1901 when she appeared single on the Canadian Census, and the birth of their daughter Hazel in 1906.
