Shirley Downer Staples, 76, died August 30th, 2012. Her memorial service is at 10:00 am on Monday at the Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS with the burial following at 1:00 pm at Oregon Memorial, Lexington, MS. Visitation will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the Chancellor Funeral Home.
She was born on October 28th, 1935. She grew up in Lexington, MS, she has an Associate's Degree from Holmes Community College in Medical Technology, and she spent most of her adult life in Jackson, MS with her husband, Bobby and two children. She is a member of Alta Woods Baptist Church, she is an avid gardener, and has a passion for cooking.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bobby Staples, her son, Barry Staples, his wife, Aimee, and their children Zach and Kaitlin, her daughter, Paula Lynn Pace and her children, Leslie, Madeline, and Samantha, her brother, William L. "Buddy" Downer, and her sister, Betty Downer Earl.
She was preceded in death by her father Thomas Marshall Downer, her mother, Pauline Powell Downer, and, her brother, Thomas Marshall Jr. "Ned" Downer.
