|Birth: ||Oct. 22, 1850|
|Death: ||Jul. 26, 1908|
Stabbed to death by J.L. Mitchell.
A History of Texas and Texans, vol. 5, p. 2416: He was a Confederate soldier in a Mississippi regiment and lost a leg in the Battle of Chickamauga. He became a pioneer merchant at Wellington, Collingsworth County, Texas. This reference states he was born "about 1840" and died at age 65.
The 1900 census gives his age as 67 and says he was born October 1832. His wife was 57.
He may be the Jasper N. Bonner age 12 (b.c1838) in Marshall Co., Miss., in 1850, son of John A. Bonner and Rebecca Bonner.
The 1880 census: Newton J. Bonner, age 40, and wife Jane, age 37, were in Panola County, Mississippi, with two children, Georgiana and Albert Q.
According to "Cedarhurst Cemetery, La Porte,Texas"
By George Wolf Jr.(2008), he was a son of Thomas and Elizabeth Bonner, buried in Union Cemtery, Falls Co., Tx., but this appears to be incorrect:
