Charles was the son of Jesse Waldo and Bridget Thompson. He served as a physician in Steuben County for many years. He married Elizabeth Besley about 1804 at Fishkill in Dutchess County, but separated from her when his only son, William Besley Waldo, was a young child. Charles spent the final years of his life with his nephew, Lucius Waldo. Lucius is also buried in Prattsburgh Rural Cemetery and the two of them are probably buried close to each other. Charles was the Great-Great-Great Grandfather of actress Lee Remick.

A search was done by a Find-A-Grave volunteer for his grave in Sept 2012, but his stone could not be located. It must have fallen apart years ago.
