Eula Belle Bartos Kocurek, age 96, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2001, in Seymour. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at the Seymour Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Edward C. Hart officiating. Interment was in the SPJST Cemetery under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kocurek was born October 25, 1904, in Louise, Wharton County, Texas. To Czechoslovakian Immigrants, Maria Sembera and Simon Bartos, who moved to Bomarton in 1910. Eula attented the Corn School.
On December 28, 1926 she married Josef Frank Kocurek in Bomarton, Texas and they farmed in the Ogden Community for 54 years. They moved to Seymour in 1980. Joe passed away August 1, 1985.
Mrs. Kocurek was a member of the SPJST and RVOS, and the Ogden Home Demonstration Club. She won numerous prizes for her canned fruits, vegetables and crafts.
She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Peggy Joe and Billy Suggs of Bethany, Oklahoma, Mary Joreen and James Ludeke of Burkburnett, Texas, Helen Jane and Don Mobley of Seymour, Texas; a son and his wife, Joe Eric and Betty Kocurek of Burkburnett, Texas; a sister, Albina Macha of Lubbock, Texas; by fifteen grandchildren, Ulana Strutz, A. Kim Ludeke, Max Ludeke, John Ludeke, Amy Dreimiller, Larisa Ludeke, Donna Crowell, Paul Mobley, Hilarie Bramwell, Clay Mobley, Carly Kocurek, Alex Kocurek, Deborah Bartlett, Kenneth Suggs, John Suggs; by 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by six sisters, Mary Walla, Ludmilla Zavodny, Dolfa Macha, Emma Fojtik, Bessie Franek and Vlasta Simek; and by four brothers, William "Bill" Bartos, Adolf Bartos, Milton Bartos and Bedrick Bartos.
