Harvey T Hilyard, 81, of Harrison, passed away Saturday, October 26, 1996 at the Aleda E Lutz V.A. Medical Center in Saginaw. Harvey was born August 23, 1915, in Adrian, Michigan, the son of Thomas and Lelah (Henry)Hilyard.
Mr. Hilyard had resided in Harrison for over twenty years, moving from Clinton, Michigan, where he was employed by Peerless Gear for over twelve years. Mr. Hilyard also was employed by Camp Deer Trails Girl Scout Camp, Harrison, for twe years and by Frost Township for a year and a half. Harvey served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II and was a life member of the American Legion Post 404, Harrison. Harvey T Hilyard was united in marriage to Doris A. Cousino June 17, 1944 in Adrian, Michigan.
Surviving are his wife Doris of Harrison, a son, Charles Hilyard and wife of Nelda of Toledo, two step-sons, Charles Fletcher of Harrison and Carl Fletcher and wife Hilda of Clare, two step-daughters, Barbara Schuch and Donna Gilbert and husband Melvin, both of Adrian, numerous grand and great-grandchildren, five sisters, Marvel White of Adrian, Izola White of Florida, Helen Touring of Detroit, Ethel Janson of Florida and Florence Baumea of Adrian. Mr. Hilyard was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold and Earl and a sister, Ruth Koon.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, October 29, 1996 at 1:00 P.M. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Rev. Lee Palmer officiating. Internment was in Evergreen (Frost Twp) Cemetery, Harrison, Michigan. Military honors were conducted by the Officers and members of the American Legion Post 404, Harrison
