Reuben was born in Solem Township on November 8, 1899, the son of Charles and Charlotte (Reed) Olson. He attended school and grew to manhood in the Kensington area. Reuben farmed his entire life and continued to farm for 69 years on the family farm where he enjoyed duck and pheasant hunting until he moved to the Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria in 1987. He continued to live there until his death on March 2, 1989.
Reuben is survived by nieces; Donna Mae (Dorian) Olson of Fargo, North Dakota; Leone Wilson of Verdin, California; Norma Reiland of Alexandria, Minnesota; Barbara Mabbott of Waunakee, Wisconsin; nephews; Curtis Olson of Plover, Wisconsin; Maynard Olson of Garfield, Minnesota; Charles Olson of Bloomington, Minnesota; Burdette Olson of Alexandria, Minnesota; and Paul Olson of Glenwood, Minnesota.
Reuben was preceded in death by both parents and both brothers, Harris and Paul.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 4, 1989, 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Kensington, Minnesota with Reverend Carl Seamon officiating. Interment was in the Kensinton Cemetery, Kensington, Minnesota.
Pallbearers were Dorian Olson, David Score, Price Score, Barry Johnson, Leonard Braaten, Melford Hagen and Larry Krienke.
Soloist was Nelorie Moberg and organist Julie Poelaert.
Funeral arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
