Nicki and Karl´s first child, Julian, was born in 1937 in Billings. Then in 1942, the family moved to Vancouver, Washington, where Nicki worked for a time in the shipyards.
In 1946, Nicki´s second child, Richard, was born, and in 1948, Nicki started working at the Jantzen mills. She was also a member of the Central Nazarene Church in Vancouver where she attended faithfully every Sunday for 30 years.
They moved to their home on 95th Street in 1958. Nicki´s father, Sam, passed away in 1965, so from 1966 until 1976, her mother Julia lived with them. Nicki worked at Jantzen for 30 years, retiring in 1978. After retiring, she and Karl took a two-week vacation in Hawaii.
In the winter of 1980, Karl and Nicki began spending their winters in Arizona. They had a trailer in Yuma and this was their home from October until April when they would return to Vancouver. In 1992, they decided that due to Karl´s health they should stay home in Vancouver all year around.
In the spring of 2000, Karl and Nicki sold their home on 95th Street and moved into a retirement center. In 2001, they moved into a foster living home. Karl passed away on March 20, 2001.
Nicki´s three years of living at the R & R home were good; she made new friends and had God-sent caretakers, Bob and Cindy McBaine. Nicki passed away January 2, 2004.
Nicki´s life was a wonderful testimony to Christ and to all of those who knew and loved her. She was truly the best wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother anyone could ever have.
