Guy Cooper Of Effingham Dies
A heart attack at 2:45 p.m. yesterday as he was helping unload feed at the Haas Produce Store in Effingham caused the death of Guy Cooper, 65, farmer a mile East of Effingham, He had suffered a heart attack Sunday night and was quite ill for several hours, but felt able to work yesterday.
Born Nov. 20, 1887, at Estilline, S. D., a son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Cooper, he moved with his parents at the age of 16 to Craig Mo., and later to a farm south of Effingham, On Nov. 27, 1913, he married Elizabeth Freeland, who died Aug. 31, 1913. They were the parents of two children, Mrs. Francis Stutz (Velma), who died Feb. 29, 1932 and Mrs. Rube Juencke (Lola), Stockton, Calif.
On April 2, 1915, he married Vera Wilson, who survives with four children, M-Sgt. Howard Cooper with the marines in Korea; twins, Donald, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Fred Scott (Dorothy), Stockton, Calif., and Mrs. William Taliaferro (Alice), Effingham. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Elmer Wilson, Kansas City, Kas, and four brothers, Harry, Kansas City, Kan.; Frank, Mapleton, Miss.; Claude, Chicago, and Mark, Effingham, and 16 grandchildren.
The body is at the Shifflett funeral home in Effingham.
