Sired by the undefeated superstar Ribot and trained by Lou Rondinello, he had the potential to be an outstanding racer. He participated in many races but was plagued by multiple injuries that kept him sidelined for months at a time. His only major win came in 1971 when he won the Everglade Stakes. After returning from an injury for the 1973 season, he set a new track record of 1:46 2/5 for 1 1/8 miles on a dirt track at the Hialeah Park Race Track. On March 10, 1973, during the Donn Handicap, he suffered a tendon injury that ended his racing career. He was retired to stud at the Darby Dan Farm. He proved to be a successful and influential sire of more than fifty stakes race winners as well as a prominent broodmare sire. He was given the Leading Sire in North America award in 1982. His most notable children are Asaltante, Pleasant Colony, Majesty's Prince, Country Pine, and Tight Spot. He is the grandsire of champion winners Colonial Affair, Go For Gin, Risen Moon, Midway Lady, and Parade Ground. He passed away at the age of 27 from the infirmities of old age.
