Mr. Seward was born March 27, 1878 in Ellisburg, son of Henry and Mary Straite Haven. He spent the early part of his life in Ellisburg where he operated a farm for several years. Later he moved to Sandy Creek and became employed as a cook on the New York Central railroad. For the past 11 years he had been cook for a construction crew on the St. Lawrence division, work which he was forced to give up on June 1 because of poor health.

He married Miss Alena J. Fuller of Ellisburg who died several years ago. He is survived by one son, Tracy Haven, and several grandchildren of McGraw, N.Y., one brother, Anson Haven of Mannsville; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Graham of Woodville and Mrs. Etta Haven of South Mexico.

Rev. Luther Ridgeway, pastor of Vermilion Methodist church, officiated at the funeral service, held Sunday at the Bettinger home. Burial was in Ellisburg. Mr. Haven was a member of I.0.O.F. lodge of Pulaski. Fellow members acted as bearers and conducted the committal service.
