"Leland F. Allen, a member of the faculty of the Richmondville Central High School, died suddenly at his home at Richmondville, New York, on Sunday, October 2. Professor Allen had been instructor of Science and Mathematics at the Richmondville Central School since 1944. Prior to coming to Richmondville, Mr. Allen had been teaching in the high schools in New York State and Florida for over thirty years, during which time he had held several principalships. Professor Allen was a graduate of the Cherry Valley High School, New York State College of Teachers and he received his Master's Degree in Education at St. Lawrence University ... Professor Allen was a native of Pleasant Brook, and he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Clara Allen of Worcester, a daughter, Norma J. Cornell, and a son, Malcolm D. Allen, both of New London, Conn. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Richmondville with the Rev. Raymond C. Dietz, D.D., officiating. Interment was at South Valley cemetery."
