LeRoy Neville Takes Own Life
LeRoy Neville, 57, of northeast of Edinburg, took his own life by gun fire last night at 7:00 P.M. in the barn in the rear of his home.
Motive for the suicide was said to be ill health.
The body was discovered by Herbert Grimes at about 9:30 P.M. and Fred Gavely, Shelby County Sheriff, a deputy sheriff and County Coroner arrived on the scene at about 10:00 P.M. The Coroner set the time of the suicide. The gun used was a 22 rifle.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Old Union Christian Church by the Reverend Ray Bozell, Monday at 2:30 P.M. The body will be removed from the Gosney Funeral Home to the Neville home where friends may call after noon Sunday.
LeRoy Neville was born in Indiana fifty seven years ago, the son of Thomas and Isabel Neville. For many years he farmed in the Atterbury area and at the time of his death he was employed by Hill Brothers Veneer Company.
On December 20, 1917 he married Bonnie Beryl Long and five children were born to the couple.
Survivors are the widow and the children, Kenneth Neville of Atwood, Ky., Cpl. Lindley D. Neville of Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., Wayne D. and Shirley Neville who are at home, and Mrs. Edward Pruitt of R. R. 2, Columbus. Also surviving are grandchildren and two brothers, David of Edinburg and Ira Neville of Petersville, Indiana; and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Campbell of Edinburg and Mrs. Pearl Meeks of Indianapolis.
LeRoy Neville was a veteran of WWI. He was a member of the Old Union Christian Church and Edinburgh Post 233 of the American Legion.
