Margaret Gipson Cruse

Her children arise up, and call her blessed... Proverbs 31:28. Our beloved Momma, MaMa and Granny, Margaret Gipson Cruse, 78, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at the home of her daughter, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories that will forever be embedded into the hearts and minds of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Margaret was born on Aug. 21, 1932, at Clifftop, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Melvin O. and Mildred Cole Gipson.

She was a member of Big Sewell Baptist Church, but for the past several years she had attended Hines Union Mission, where her son pastored. She spent her years on this earth as a homemaker, attending the needs of her family.

Momma anxiously awaited the day she would be reunited with her husband of 52 years, John W. Cruse Jr. and her precious son, John Melvin Cruse; her parents, Melvin and Mildred Gipson; two sisters, Mary Hizer and Mabel Martin and two brothers, Harry and Paul Gipson.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Judy Ballengee of Rainelle; two sons, the Rev. Bill Cruse and his wife, Patricia of Danese, and Don Cruse and his wife, Cheri of Rainelle; nine grandchildren, Shannon, Megan, Billy David, Anna, Shelly, Don Richard, Clinton, Amber, and Jonnie; 11 great-grandchildren, Chase, Braydon, Landon, Collin, Riley, Kenzie, Kadie, Kallie, Victoria, Cara, Abby, and a great-grandson, Landon Josiah to be born in January. She is also survived by a sister, Alma Hill of North Carolina, and two very special friends who remained friends even when the road got rough, Brenda Lawrence and Graceline Drennen.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel in Rainelle with the Rev. Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, where she will be peacefully laid to rest beside her beloved husband and son.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at the funeral home.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and granddaughters will lovingly carry her flowers.

The release of the white doves will symbolize her families love in remembrance of her as they release her into the arms of Jesus.

The family would also like to thank Dr. Phillip Jarvis and his staff and the Hospice staff for the special care they gave our Mother.

The family has entrusted Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle, with the arrangements.
