Loving husband of 48 years to Jeanne DiPietro, passed away at his home in Orlando, FL on June 26, 2008, after a 9-year battle with prostate cancer. In 1957, he graduated from New England Bible Institute in Framingham, MA. In 1958, he graduated from Central Bible College in Springfield, MO. In 1959, Pastor George founded and pastored Hillside Evangelical Church in Medford, MA, and he pastored Calvary Center in Worcester, MA until 1983. Rev. DeTellis was the founder of New Missions. He was a missionary in Haiti for 18 years and in the Dominican Republic for 8 years.

Pastor George was born a twin, to Mary Elizabeth Antonino of Duxbury, MA, on April 25, 1935, in South Boston, to the parents of Michael and Mary DeTellis of Bari, Italy. Pastor George is father to four children: George, Jr, Charles, Mary Ann, and Timothy. He is grandfather to 5 grandsons and 5 granddaughters: Michael, Nathan, Jeremie, Julianne, Angelina, Carita, Luc, Jacob, Kate, and Elissa.

DeTellis founded New Missions, a nonprofit Christian organization with business offices in Orlando and outreach programs in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, in 1983. He moved to Haiti with his family and set up five tents on a plot of land with the hope of helping the poor. The project grew to include 20 churches, 41 schools, a medical clinic, a Bible college, a business college and a training center for missionaries. "I have seen God's hand work in my life a thousand times. In the midst of my fear and trembling comes a deep security. God has always been faithful to provide and bring about His purpose for my life. I have learned that God is all that I am not". Paul said it best. "When I am weak, then I am strong" Corinthians 12:10
